Easter Island, isolated in the Pacific, is the classic land of mysteries, with the enigmatic moai (giant megalithic heads and torsos), the unique rongorongo script, the strange birdman petroglyphs, low stone “houses”, and caves inhabited for centuries or millennia. How far back does the indigenous Easter Island civilization go?
